Services Offered Through FSSP

Navigating the challenges of caregiving can be overwhelming, and families caring for children who have developmental delays and disabilities face unique challenges. FSSP connects families with community resources, provides advocacy, and can offer financial support for needs and daily living expenses that go beyond what is typically experienced by other families. This includes things like:

  • Assistive Technology: Equipment to support individuals with disabilities, such as wheelchairs, communication devices, and vehicle modifications.
  • Home Modification: Structural changes like ramps and widened doorframes, plus repairs from damage that may have been caused by a family member with aggressive behaviors.
  • Parent and Sibling Support: Expenses for family members, including counseling, support organization memberships, and recreational activities to address caregiving stress.
  • Respite Care: Temporary care for children/adult children with disabilities, allowing families a much-needed break.
  • Transportation: Travel costs for medical and therapy appointments for family members with developmental disabilities that go beyond what is typically experienced by other families.
  • Professional Services: Counseling and therapies prescribed by a physician for individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Medical and Dental: Funding for medications, medical supplies, and expenses related to out-of-town medical care.
  • Other Expenses: Necessary items or services for individuals with disabilities, such as special diets, clothing, developmental materials, and diapers for a child over three years old.
