We honor the voice and power of people, together exploring the paths before them
Our Approach
We are an accessible and centralized support system for individuals and families in search of assistance within a complex system. We listen intently to understand and respect everyone’s stories and experiences, work closely with people in figuring out their options and choices, and connect individuals and families with the right resources and supports to help them thrive at home or their community of choice.
Our work revolves around an inclusive approach to care, ensuring that every door is the right door.
We proudly support:
Ensuring all families with infants and toddlers get the help and support their children need to meet developmental milestones and reach their full potential.
Connecting children and adults with disabilities, behavioral health needs, substance use needs, and those experiencing housing instability with the resources, supports, and tools to live safely and happily in their communities of choice.
Helping veterans who are experiencing housing instability to find safe and permanent housing, accessible healthcare, and legal counsel.
Our History
In 1992, the non-profit Denver Options began operating out of a building on South Colorado Boulevard with just 20 employees to support its launch. Later renamed to Rocky Mountain Human Services, our organization was born out of the collective will of a determined group of parents, advocates, and civic-minded individuals who wanted more and better for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD).
Today, RMHS has grown to be an organization over 500 employees with expanded services to support individuals with I/DD, infants and toddlers who need help meeting developmental milestones, veterans who need support to find stable housing, individuals with mental health needs, people transitioning back into the community after residential mental health or substance use treatment, and more.
We are so proud to be a member of the Colorado community and thankful for the partnerships with those we serve, community partners, and the friends and families of the people and communities we support. It is those partnerships that have guided our work for over 30 years, and for many years to come.
